Rem Langan joined McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada Limited in 1979, following three years with advertising agency Needham, Harper and Steers in both Toronto and Sydney, Australia. Prior to becoming President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities in 2002, Rem held various roles within McDonald’s Marketing and Communications teams across Canada, Eastern Europe and Russia. His last position with the company was Chief Marketing Officer.
In February 2002, Rem became President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities. In this role he was responsible for creating the vision and strategic plan for the charity as well as the development and execution of all internal and external fundraising initiatives. Included among these initiatives was the creation of the McDonald’s 10 Cent Happy Meal program, which to date has raised over $33 million for Ronald McDonald House Charities since January 2004. He was also instrumental in creating a strong partnership between Ronald McDonald House Charities and the 12 Canadian Ronald McDonald Houses. Rem has held a number of board and committee positions with various charities, including Think First Foundation and Variety The Children’s Charity.
Rem holds a BA (Honours) in Physical Education with a Minor in Business from the University of Western Ontario and has his own consulting company.
