Every charity relies on the generosity of donors to run their programs, and Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada is no different.
While McDonald’s covers Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada’s administrative and operating costs, 100% of the money you donate goes towards our Ronald McDonald Houses and their programs. It takes the giving and active support of thousands of individuals, corporations and community groups to fully fund and operate each House.
Thanks to donors like you, families can stay at a Ronald McDonald House for as little as $10 to $15 a night, while the real cost for a House to operate a bedroom each night is $122 on average.
The donations we receive on behalf of the Houses are passed on in three ways:

An unrestricted annual operating grant to contribute to Ronald McDonald House operations
- Capital grants to support the building of a new one or the renovation of an existing House
- Grants that allow Houses to build and operate a Ronald McDonald Family Room
With the extensive growth planned for our Houses over the next several years – and some of it already in the works – Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada has proudly contributed more than $30 million to make it all happen. But supporting growth does not end with the building and opening of a new House. It costs $10 million annually to operate Canada’s Ronald McDonald Houses, which in turn supports 10,000 families each year.
